Brentford vs Leicester: Bees hard to beat

Brentford vs Leicester: Bees hard to beat

Kick-off: 1400, 24/10/2021

Stadium: Brentford Community Stadium

Leicester are yet to follow up a midweek match with a weekend victory this season so look uneasy favourites when they make a tricky trip to Brentford on Sunday.

Wednesday’s Europa League visit to Russia was their fourth midweek game with the others followed by a 2-1 defeat at Brighton and 2-2 draws with Burnley and Crystal Palace.

The Foxes are slight favourites here but we reckon another draw at 11/5 is better value for our opening Brentford vs Leicester prediction.

A Look At Brentford’s Betting Odds

Brentford have had no trouble making the step up to the Premier League and are yet to be beaten by more than one goal.

Saturday’s 1-0 derby defeat at home to Chelsea was only their second loss of the campaign so the Bees are likely to be competitive, as they were when beating Arsenal and drawing with Liverpool here.

Having scored three goals against Liverpool, Brentford created plenty of chances against Chelsea but goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was in inspired form for the visitors while Bryan Mbeumo twice struck the woodwork and Christian Norgaard had a shot cleared off the line.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank said: “We created five 100 per cent chances, plus other chances, so there should only be one winner from that game and that is us.

“It’s crazy if you look at the stats after the game. Nine out of 10 times we would have won this match.”

Leicester have looked vulnerable in defence this season and no team outside the bottom five has conceded more goals.

Looking at the Brentford vs Leicester odds, over 2.5 goals at 98/100 looks a good shout and would have paid out in all four of Leicester’s away games.

Last Brentford line-up: Raya, Henry, Pinnock, Jansson, Jorgensen, Norgaard, Jensen, Onyeka, Mbeumo, Canos, Toney.

Brentford will be without Yoane Wissa as he faces a few weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Shandon Baptiste (shoulder) and Vitaly Janelt (thigh) will be assessed after missing the defeat by Chelsea.

A Look At Leicester City’s Betting Odds

Leicester have made a slow start to the season by their own high standards but will now be hoping to kick on after a superb victory over Manchester United.

A thrilling 4-2 success ended a four-match winless Premier League run in style and set the bar for how the Foxes must perform going forwards.

Boss Brendan Rodgers said: “It’s much more like what we’ve been used to seeing of the team. A really aggressive, emotional game, pressing the opponent – a really difficult team to play against.

“Then once you can press and be that aggressive then that takes the temperature of your attacking game up and then with that we were excellent.

“We created opportunities, scored four, could have had some more. Our concentration level was at a high level so that was that was much more pleasing in terms of performance.”

This has the makings of an entertaining match with Leicester having conceded exactly two goals in each of their last four league games.

Two of those ended 2-2 so let’s take a punt on that score being repeated at 25/2 for the last of our Brentford vs Leicester betting tips.

Last Leicester EPL line-up: Schmeichel, Soyuncu, Evans, Amartey, Pereira, Castagne, Tielemans, Maddison, Soumare, Vardy, Iheanacho.

Leicester are without Marc Albrighton for up to three weeks.

The winger was on the end of a bad tackle from Aleksandr Lomovitskiy late in the Europa League win at Spartak Moscow.

Ayoze Perez is back after illness but Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) is out while James Justin (knee) and Wesley Fofana (broken leg) remain sidelined.
