Bournemouth have drifted to 8/1 in bwin’s Championship winner predictions after their poor run of form continued with a 1-0 defeat at Derby on Tuesday night.

Krystian Bielik’s first-half strike proved the difference against the Rams, who were in the relegation places heading into Wayne Rooney’s first match as permanent manager.

Bournemouth have now won just one of their last six league games and have scored only three goals in that time.

Even the late introduction of Jack Wilshere, who agreed terms with the club until the end of the season on Monday, failed to prevent a second successive defeat after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to Luton.

Boss Jason Tindall said: “It’s one of those things we’re going through. We’re struggling to score goals.

“I still believe that we’ll score goals. We just need to ask more questions of the goalkeepers.

“It’s been a disappointing week to say the least, with just one point from nine, but it’s about how we bounce back now.”

Canaries cruising

Bournemouth are now 11 points behind leaders Norwich, who have started the year with three straight league wins and are the clear favourites at 4/5 in the outright Championship winner odds.

Goals in either half from striker Jordan Hugill secured a routine 2-0 victory at home to Bristol City on Wednesday, with the visitors failing to register a single effort on target all evening.

Manager Daniel Farke said: “It is always difficult to compare games but I would say this was our best performance of the season so far. The lads were fantastic and I can’t praise them enough.

“We dominated the game from start to finish, had nine shots on goal while denying them a single effort on our goal, had two thirds of the possession and the only complaint I could make was that we didn’t take more of the many chances we created.

“We are in a great position but we are not over the moon or anything like that because there are still a lot of games to play and I expect teams like Brentford and Swansea to win their games in hand. But I am very pleased with what I saw this evening.”

Swansea are seven points behind the Canaries with a game in hand after Tuesday’s game at Blackburn was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They strengthened their squad with the signing of midfielder Conor Hourihane on loan from Aston Villa this week and are 9/1 for the title or 7/4 for promotion.

Brentford are a further two points back but with two games in hand on Norwich and one on Swansea.

They stretched their unbeaten league run to 17 games on Wednesday when Saman Ghoddos’ 15th-minute header secured a 1-0 victory against Luton, and the Bees can be backed at 11/4 to win the Championship.

Watford and Reading, who also won in midweek and are 10 points behind Norwich with a game in hand, are priced at 7/1 and 33/1 respectively.
