While Sweden are likely to provide USA with their toughest test of the competition so far, The Yanks are still seen as favourites to beat the Blueyellow and top Group C at the Women’s World Cup.

The game will mark an emotional occasion for the USA’s head coach as Pia Sandhage will lead his side out against his home nation.

Sweden boast an impressive run of form coming into the game, having lost just one of their last five encounters.

The Swedes warmed up for the tournament with a 2-0 win over Mexico and a 1-1 draw with Japan and have taken their opening games of the cup 1-0 over North Korea and Colombia.

However, this record is eclipsed by the formidable USA side, which has won each of its last five games and is among the tournament’s most prolific goal scores.

The Yanks came into the cup on the back of successive victories over Iceland and Japan and have scored five goals in the competition so far, without seeing their defence breached once.

Such form sees USA placed as firm favourites for the match, with bwin offering odds of 59/100 on a win for Sandhage’s side.

Opposite number Thomas Dennerby sees his charged priced at 19/4, while the draw is seen as a 51/20 shot.

That said, Sweden’s chances of winning should not be taken lightly. The Europeans are among the strongest teams in the Women’s game and have secured to wins over the Americans in recent history.

The pick of the results from the last five games between the two sides shows Sweden running out at 5-4 winners in a thrilling clash.

With 20 goals scored by the sides during those matches, a lot of money could be placed on a high-scoring affair this time round.

Using bwin’s free £25 to back the game seeing five or more goals at 5/1 would return £150 if successful.

Other goal bet options are available, with exactly four priced at 9/2 and exactly three offering odds of 31/10.

For those expecting a more conservative tally, zero, one and two goals can be backed at 9/1, 4/1 and 27/10 respectively.
