Manchester United and Liverpool have drawn six of their last nine Premier League meetings following last weekend’s cagey goalless stalemate at Anfield.
However, both sides will be keen to avoid going to extra-time in the FA Cup and that will hopefully lead to a more entertaining tie at Old Trafford.
We like 13/10 for either team to win by any one-goal margin for our first Man Utd vs Liverpool prediction.
A Look At Manchester United’s Betting Odds
United have done well in cup competitions under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, even if coming up short in four straight semi-final defeats.
The Red Devils have faced stiff opposition in those contests, including when beaten by Chelsea in the last four of this event six months ago.
This season, they kicked off their FA Cup campaign with a workmanlike 1-0 home win over Watford, with Scott McTominay heading in the decisive goal early on.
Solskjaer will make changes to the starting line-up he sent out at Anfield but has plenty of strength in depth.
United were negative for much of the league clash with Liverpool, but came on strong in the latter stages and could have grabbed a winner through Bruno Fernandes or Paul Pogba.
“I think it showed throughout the game that the belief grew,” the manager said.
“Next time we play them, after this experience, we need to impose ourselves on the game.
“Not take a few more risks, but we can do better – and that is a good feeling to have that I know we can do better.”
In what should be a far more up-tempo affair, we like 29/10 for both teams to score in the first half from the Man Utd vs Liverpool odds.
A Look At Liverpool’s Betting Odds
Jurgen Klopp’s record in this competition is decidedly unimpressive, with Liverpool going out in round three once, round four twice and exiting at the fifth-round stage last term.
During his time in charge, they have been troubled by the likes of Plymouth and Shrewsbury, as well as losing to West Brom and Wolves.
However, the Reds have knocked out Everton on a couple of occasions under Klopp, so the German can clearly get up for high-profile ties.
He took a strong squad to Aston Villa earlier this month, where Liverpool powered to a 4-1 triumph against a youthful Midlands outfit.
Sadio Mane hit a double, while Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salag also netted, so maybe Klopp means business this time around.
Defender Neco Williams told the club website: “The FA Cup is not a cup we have done that well in, so I think this year we are looking forward to pushing on and to get to the final and hopefully win it.”
Liverpool have not lifted this trophy since the epic 2006 final, when they beat West Ham on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw.
We feel this could be a similar end-to-end contest in which both teams create plenty of chances.
Given their current injury problems at the back, the visitors, in particular, may decide that attack is the best form of defence.
With that in mind, 11/2 for either side to lead and then lose is added to our Man Utd vs Liverpool betting tips.
