Everton to win at Burnley @ 10/11
The Toffees have lost four of their last five matches but there is still a lot to like about Carlo Ancelotti’s team this season. Everton had 15 shots in last week’s 1-0 loss to Leeds, with eight of them on target, so we’re not reading too much into their failure to score. “We have had some difficulties, we lost some players, but that doesn’t mean that we are not in the right direction,” insisted Ancelotti. The Merseyside outfit have already won at Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Fulham, so we’re keeping faith in them.
Chelsea to beat Leeds @ 8/15
The Blues have conceded only two goals in their last 10 games in all competitions and will be seeking an eighth victory in nine outings when hosting Leeds at Stamford Bridge. Wednesday’s superb 4-0 Champions League success versus Sevilla in Spain showed the strength in depth at Frank Lampard’s disposal, as he made nine changes for that match. Chelsea were denied a fourth straight top-flight triumph when held to a goalless draw here by Tottenham, but were the better side in that contest and look a team to follow.
Crystal Palace to win at West Brom @ 8/5
The Eagles suffered two defeats in the absence of Wilfried Zaha, who had to self-isolate, but had previously picked up 13 points from eight matches. Getting their talisman back is the key to Palace returning to top form, with Roy Hodgson admitting: “We can’t deny at all that we have missed him and his quality in the last two games.” West Brom finally achieved their first victory of the season when beating Sheffield United 1-0 here but the rock-bottom Blades created enough clear-cut chances to win the game comfortably.
Tottenham to beat Arsenal @ 19/20
North London derbies are always tense affairs but Spurs head into this contest holding all the aces. Jose Mourinho’s side came out of a 2-0 triumph over Manchester City and a goalless draw at Chelsea on top of the table and unbeaten since the opening weekend, whereas the Gunners are down in 14th after picking up just one point in three games. Tottenham took four points off Arsenal last season, prevailing 2-1 at this venue, and are unbeaten in their last six Premier League meetings on home turf, winning on four occasions.
Liverpool to beat Wolves @ 1/2
The Reds have prevailed in all four top-flight encounters with Wolves over the past couple of seasons and are backed to confirm that superiority in our Premier League predictions. Liverpool may have injury problems in defence, but continue to play with a stylish swagger going forward and have picked up maximum points from five home games in this competition. Wolves are coming off a 2-1 triumph at Arsenal but often fall short against top teams. Manchester City and Leicester have already beaten them this term and being without Raul Jimenez is a big blow.
