Face-off: 1600 ET, 26/11/2021
Venue: Honda Center
Anaheim and Ottawa will both attempt to snap three-match losing streaks but it is the Ducks who are strongly fancied to get back on track.
Dallas Eakins is still in credit following a previous run of eight straight regulation or overtime triumphs and their home record is strong at 7-3-1.
The visitors have claimed just one victory from seven road trips, so 1.95 for the hosts to prevail is hard to resist in our Anaheim Ducks vs Ottawa Senators predictions.
Anaheim Ducks Odds
Anaheim ran into a red-hot outfit when hammered 5-2 in Colorado but played their part in an entertaining encounter.
Sonny Milano scored twice and the Ducks also hit iron on more than one occasion.
That followed narrow losses to Nashville and Carolina, so we’re not ready to give up on this spirited side yet.
Anaheim are second behind Edmonton in terms of goals scored on power plays and only five teams have conceded more times when short-handed than Ottawa.
It is also worth noting that Ottawa have conceded an NHL-high 28 goals in the third period and only two teams have outscored Anaheim in the closing section.
Looking at the NHL odds for this match, we like 3.2 for the Ducks to win the third period and there to be over 1.5 goals in the final 20 minutes.
Ottawa Senators Odds
Ottawa’s troubles grew as a 6-3 drubbing at San Jose saw their form figures in November slip to 1-8-1 and they are cut adrift at the bottom of the Eastern Atlantic.
Josh Norris, Brady Tkachuk and Connor Brown scored for the Senators, who did show some heart in the first couple of periods.
They levelled twice and even took a 3-2 lead at 16:11 in the second after a superb pass into the slot gave Thomas Chabot his second assist.
To be fair, a pair of late empty-net goals flattered the Sharks and left DJ Smith to lament: “We deserved better, a point or two.
“It’s hard when your team comes ready to play, plays plenty good to win and you don’t, so you go back to the drawing board.”
There have been some encouraging aspects of Ottawa’s play, but conceding 17 goals in three games tells its own story.
Let’s add 2.85 for a home win and over 5.5 goals to our NHL predictions, with 16.0 for a 5-2 scoreline worth a speculative wager – as that was the result when they last met in March.
Colorado 5-2 ANAHEIM
San Jose 6-3 OTTAWA
Head-to-head: Anaheim 5-2 Ottawa, Ottawa 0-1 Anaheim, Ottawa 4-0 Anaheim, Anaheim 1-2 Ottawa
