Wigan head to Old Trafford riding a tidal wave of emotion and are fancied to edge out Warrington in our Super League Grand Final predictions.
The Warriors will wave goodbye to inspirational coach Shaun Wane and star full-back Sam Tomkins after this match and will be desperate to give them a fitting send-off.
We’re backing Wigan to do just that, although it should be a tight tussle, so 7/4 they prevail by 1-12 points is the first of our Super League Grand Final betting tips.
A Look At Wigan Warriors’ Betting Odds
Wigan finished second in the regular season, picking up 16 wins out of 23 games to finish three points clear of fourth-placed Warrington.
However, that gap was extended to nine points during the Super 8s, with the Warriors rattling off seven straight victories in that period.
That hot streak included a 26-6 defeat of Warrington at DW Stadium last month, which put the Warriors 3-2 ahead in this year’s meetings between the two familiar foes.
Wigan also have the benefit of lifting this trophy twice in the past five years, beating Warrington in the decider on both occasions, most recently obliging 12-6 in 2016.
A Look At Warrington Wolves’ Betting Odds
Warrington were less consistent during the Super 8s, posting some big wins over the lesser-ranked clubs but losing to the three teams above them in the table.
The Wolves came good in the semis, as they saw off league leaders St Helens, with two tries from winger Tom Lineham and a superb defensive display doing the business.
However, they are now aiming to win the overall title for the first time in 63 years, having beaten Oldham 7-3 in the championship final at Maine Road in 1955.
Warrington fell at the last hurdle when beaten by Catalans Dragons in the Challenge Cup decider at Wembley this summer and remain tarnished by the tag of being nearly-men.
We think defences will be on top in the early stages at Old Trafford but are hoping things open up a bit later on.
That was the case when these sides last clashed, with Wigan leading 8-6 after 68 minutes before a trio of late tries pulled them clear.
Let’s add 3/4 for more points to be scored in the second half of this contest to our Super League Grand Final predictions.
